There are thousands of platforms to design and create new websites.
But two platforms stand out.
One is Wix Studio, and the other is Webflow.
Wix & Wix Studio have over 220 million users.
Webflow has 3.5 million users.
So, which option should you choose?
TLDR: both are good options. Try both, and see which one you prefer.
For comparison, here are some key differences to consider:
Wix Studio Vs Webflow Features Comparison
1. Design Customization & Flexibility
Both platforms offer design flexibility with many templates and customization options, making them good for beginners and experts.
2. Ease of Use
Wix Studio is known for its user-friendly interface and easy learning curve, allowing users to create professional websites quickly.
It is often liked by designers who are used to tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
3. Integration & Plugin Support
Both platforms (Wix Studio and Webflow) support third-party integrations, but Wix Studio has a massive app market and custom plugin capabilities.
4. eCommerce Capabilities
Wix Studio provides a really good eCommerce solution ideal for small to large online stores.
Webflow's ability to do e-commerce is much more advanced. It also works well with all the famous payment gateways like Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.
Webflow vs. Wix Pricing Comparison
This week, users were not happy with a Webflow pricing update:
...and many others.
While I think their approach to updating their price could've been better, I do understand as a business owner why they're doing it.
But you as a business owner also need to consider HOW MUCH YOU are spending.
So here's a pricing comparison:
1. Free Plans (Webflow Starter vs. Wix Basic)
Webflow Starter:
Free plan with limited features, suitable for very basic sites. Limited to 2 pages and 1GB bandwidth.
Wix Studio Basic:
Wix Studio has a free plan - you can create unlimited websites for free. You only pay when you publish it to a domain, then plans start at $12/month with 10GB media storage, 3 site collaborators, 1,500 CMS items, and a free domain for 1 year. Offers more storage and functionality compared to Webflow's free plan.
2. Entry-Level Plans (Webflow Basic vs. Wix Standard)
Webflow Basic:
$14/month, focuses on static sites, with 150 pages, no CMS collections or items, and 10GB bandwidth.
Wix Studio Standard:
$20/month, offers 50GB media storage, 5 site collaborators, 4,000 CMS items, and a free domain for 1 year. Provides a more feature-rich option for slightly more cost.
3. Content-Driven Plans (Webflow CMS vs. Wix Plus)
Webflow CMS:
$23/month, includes 150 pages, 20 CMS collections, 2,000 CMS items, 50 GB bandwidth, 3 content editors, and site search.
Wix Studio Plus:
$32/month, offers 120GB media storage, 10 site collaborators, 10,000 CMS items, site analytics, and a free domain for 1 year. More expensive but includes more storage and collaborators.
4. High-Traffic Plans (Webflow Business vs. Wix Elite)
Webflow Business:
$39/month, ideal for larger sites with 300 pages, 40 CMS collections, 10,000 CMS items, 100GB bandwidth, 10 content editors, and form file uploads.
Wix Studio Elite:
$149/month, provides unlimited media storage, 15 site collaborators, 100,000 CMS items, custom analytics reports, free domain for 1 year, and priority support. Significantly higher cost but offers much greater storage and CMS capabilities.
5. Enterprise Plans
Webflow Enterprise:
Custom pricing with advanced features for large organizations, including uncapped users and enterprise-level support.
Wix Studio Enterprise:
Custom pricing includes unlimited site collaborators, custom CMS quota, advanced analytics, multi-site management, and a dedicated success manager. Customized for large-scale businesses with large needs.
Wix Studio has flexible pricing and CMS quotas, along with unlimited bandwidth and advanced integrations.
It's a great option for businesses of any size that need a robust CMS at a good price (without the "shock" updates).
Why Should You Try Wix Studio?
Here's a quick overview of why I like and recommend it:
And a few advanced features most platforms don't have:
1. Flexible CMS Quotas
Wix Studio offers the ability to add custom CMS quotas starting at $20 a month.
This flexibility ensures that your site can grow alongside your business without unexpected costs or limitations.
2. Connecting to External Databases
Connect to external databases like MYSQL, Postgres, and others on Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, etc.
3. Freedom for Partners
One of the best Partners' benefits of using Wix Studio is the lifted limit of 10,000 CMS items for free sites.
This offers more creative freedom, enabling you to build spicy and feature-rich websites without the additional (hidden) costs.
4. Integrating AI into CMS Creation
Integrating AI into the creation stage of the CMS collections simplifies the process of building and managing content.
5. Bandwidth and Hosting Capabilities
All plans have unlimited bandwidth (in addition to multi-cloud hosting and full DNS management).
Conclusion
Whether you want to go with Wix Studio or Webflow depends on your requirements, skill level, and preference.
My suggestion is to give both a try and see which one you prefer.
