Web designers are always looking for new clients.
Whether you’re a full-time freelancer or taking on projects on the side, finding the right place to sell your web design services is crucial.
If you've ever wondered:
Where do I sell my web design services?
This article will give you the answer. Some of these might be a great fit for you, and others may not. My advice?
Try a few, see what works, and adapt from there.
Let’s dive in to 5 popular platforms:
Upwork
Upwork is one of the biggest freelancing platforms in the world, with millions of freelancers in various fields, including web design.
The platform offers projects where you can bid on jobs or be invited by clients who find your profile appealing.
Upwork provides tools for managing projects, communication, and payment, making it a comprehensive platform for both short-term gigs and long-term clients.
Fiverr
Fiverr is known for its affordability and accessibility.
Originally starting with services priced at $5, Fiverr has evolved, allowing freelancers to set higher prices and offer more specialized services.
Web designers can create "gigs" to offer specific services, such as landing page design, full website development, or even UI/UX consultation.
Fiverr’s marketplace is competitive, but with a standout portfolio and strong reviews, it can be a lucrative platform for web designers.
In fact, it's how I started freelancing, and I share more in this video:
LinkedIn isn’t just a networking platform; it’s also a great place to sell your web design services. Many professionals and companies use LinkedIn to find freelancers, making it an incredible resource to generate leads. Make sure you optimize your LinkedIn profile with relevant skills, certifications, and a compelling portfolio, and also post on topics that resonate with clients.
Freelancer
Freelancer is similar to Upwork. Freelancers bid on jobs posted by clients and also participate in contests to win projects. This platform is ideal if you prefer a bidding system to find work or if you're interested in earning through competition-based projects. It also provides a straightforward payment system, making it easier to manage transactions.
Contra
Wix Studio partnered with Contra to offer a certification program for Wix Studio experts. By earning a Wix Studio Expert badge on Contra, certified web designers can showcase their skills to more than 20,000 potential clients. This program helps designers stand out, providing a verified badge that signals expertise to prospective clients.
And right now, it's VERY easy to stand out, like this guy:
To get started, web designers need to get certified through Wix Studio, then apply on Contra. This collaboration opens up new opportunities for freelancers to gain credibility and more importantly; get good high paying clients that value your services.
Wrapping Up
Each of these platforms comes with its own pros + cons.
I'd suggest you try them all and eventually settle on a platform that gets you the best results. For more tips to get clients, managing clients and more, join the Freelance Fam community.
